What is fer servadou?

Fer Servadou is a red wine grape variety that is mainly grown in South West France, particularly in the regions of Gaillac, Marcillac, Béarn, and Madiran. It is also known as Mansois or Pinenc. This grape variety produces wines that are deep in color, intense in flavor, and high in tannins. The wines made from Fer Servadou are often blended with other grape varieties such as Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fer Servadou is also used in the production of Armagnac, a type of brandy that is mainly produced in Gascony, Southwest France. The grape variety is known for being challenging to cultivate due to its susceptibility to disease and its low yields.
